Type Alias: GeovisWorkspaceSidebarChipsLayout

GeovisWorkspaceSidebarChipsLayout = { kind: "wrap"; } | { columns: number; kind: "grid"; }

Defined in: context/GeovisWorkspaceContext.ts:265

How a GeovisWorkspaceSidebarChipsFilter lays its chips out.

  • wrap — each chip as wide as its content, flowing onto the next line when the row runs out of room. Rows come out ragged, which suits short labels.
  • grid — columns equal-width columns, each chip filling its cell. Labels that do not fit end in an ellipsis and read in full on hover, so every row keeps the same height and the columns stay aligned.

A union rather than a layout string beside a loose columns: columns only means something to a grid, so a wrap that declares it, or a grid that leaves it out, does not type-check instead of being silently ignored.

columns

columns: number

Number of columns. Read as a whole number of at least 1 — 0, a negative, NaN or a fraction is floored and clamped rather than left to break the layout.
